Anthony James is a passionate advocate for sustainability, agriculture, and the power of storytelling based in Philadelphia, PA. After spending parts of his childhood in Germany with his mother, Anthony relocated to Philadelphia, where he studied at The University of The Arts and earned a degree in Photo Arts from the Antonelli Institute of Art and Design.

Anthony's journey into sustainability began in 2016 with a twelve-page paper titled "Green City," which sparked his interest in growing his own food, deepened his understanding of food systems, and fueled his drive to make a difference in his community. Since then, he has dedicated his career to addressing food insecurity, environmental issues, and social justice concerns affecting Black and Brown communities.

In addition to his photography work, Anthony founded Salvage Compost, a nonprofit initiative aimed at sustainability and food waste solutions.

Anthony’s efforts also include speaking on panels about the state of the food system, gentrification, and related policies at various colleges and universities in the Philadelphia area. His mission is rooted in the belief that “a better world starts with a better community. By nurturing our environment and supporting each other, we can build a future where everyone thrives.”
